RDTA ON-LINE BUSINESS MEETING

FEBRUARY 2005

PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Dom & Joan Filardo:

We are doing an “E” meeting this time in lieu of the business meeting we were supposed to have on March 12. We did this because it was so close to the WASCA Festival and the annual meeting at the Festival that we didn’t want to cancel. We did however want to communicate important Festival information to the membership. Hence an “E” meeting.

We will have our annual RDTA meeting at the WASCA Festival on Saturday morning March 19 at 9:00 AM in the corridor outside the Regency Ball Room round dance hall.

We have arranged to have RDTA leaders cue at the Festival on Saturday March 19 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM in the Lake Anne room. The leaders who will be cueing are: Christina Eum, Tim Eum, Anita Froehlich, George Springer and Judy Jaworski. We will not do a pre-set program so that the leaders can cue to the floor based on attendees. I will prepare a placard to be placed out in the hall in front of the Lake Anne Room to let people know RDTA is going to be cueing in the hall and who is on the program. I will also ensure a turntable, disc player, etc. are set up.

As in the past we have invited the staff leaders to lunch after the RDTA clinic on Sunday morning [see Education Coordinator committee report]. You are all also invited to join us for lunch after the clinic at your own expense. Joan & I will coordinate with the restaurant when we get to Reston on Thursday.

As in the past we will invite any non RDTA leaders who attend the Festival to come to the Sunday morning RDTA clinic at a cost of $15.00 per couple.

EDUCATION COORDINATOR: John & Peg Kincaid:

Curt & Tammy Worlock will be doing a figure clinic for us. I am awaiting responses from the membership so that I can supply Curt with a list of figures we would like to have them work on. Assume we are doing lunch after the clinic as we have done in the past.  Robin Goglas has agreed to video tape the clinic. Have asked John Burnette about the floor in the Regency Ballroom and he will check to make sure we can keep the wood floor in place until after the clinic.

WASCA ROUND DANCE LIAISON: John Burnett:

I see that everyone has received a list of dances and an updated list. Thank you all for your input. I have also put in a request for the Regency Ballroom for Sunday morning with the Festival Directors. I will follow this up on Thursday, March 17th, with the Hotel myself.

WASCAS ROUND DANCE INVITATIONAL: Peg & Butch Bloxom:

The program is finally done and the music has been recorded, cue sheets copied and ready to be sent to the Worlocks. My intention is to tell Curt that if he feels the floor will not support the dances I have programmed, he is welcome to change them in any way he sees fit. I tried to use everyone's dances that were submitted, and I thank everyone who was kind enough to help me out with this. The only thing I need now is numbers. The invitations have been printed but I need to know how many to send to each person that has classes. George, you have told me 6 couples, hope I am right, Tim Eum has said 15 to 20 so this is what you will receive in the mail. If these numbers are not correct please send me a more updated number. Again, thank you for all your hard work and I hope you can encourage all of your beginner dancers, or dancers in their second year, to come to the Invitational. I tried to make the dances ones that everyone could dance. See you all at WASCA Festival.

RDTA SNOWFLAKE BALL: Tim & Nana Eum:

All went well. We had 69 dancers enjoy the afternoon and that was pretty good considering Super Bowl Sunday and all. A well deserved thank you to all the leaders who cued and helped with all the other incidentals for the dance: Tim & Nana Eum, Christina Eum, Dom & Joan Filardo, Anita Froehlich, Tex & Margaret Shipman, George & Jeannine Springer, and John & Rose Miller [filled in for the treasurer].

Respectfully submitted,
Margaret & Tex Shipman
Secretary
